PLEASE may the oven be fixable
Jul. 16th, 2012 07:26 pmTonight, dear internet, I was turning on the oven, when it made a crackling pop, and flashed electricity at me.
I, of course, yelped, and turned it off at the wall, (well I turned the fridge off at the wall, and
hazel , summoned by my yelp, turned the oven off at the wall. The plugs are close, I would have figured it out once I calmed down).
I really sincerely hope that our oven just needs an element replaced, or some such, because apparently it is no longer code to wire ovens as it was approximately 35 years ago when this one was installed. So if we have to replace the oven, there may in fact be no electrician willing to install it into our crappy wiring (which we had been saving to replace).
We can about afford to replace the oven with a basic no frills decent oven, if we have to. We cannot afford to rewire without borrowing (yet more money) from the bank. /o\
The joys of home ownership.
Edit: Oven now fixed! \o/
